Almost everybody owns a computer or two today and the amount that one spends to keep it up to date is quite staggering. In fact, the spare parts and service industry for computers is a booming sector in any country thanks to the constant demand for newer parts. This is in turn stimulated by the timely release of the latest editions of versions of pre-existing hardware as well as software with a new product launch thrown into the midst.

Take for example the case of the processor, where Intel manages to launch brand new processors almost every year. It is not a strategic move rather the necessity of the industry that witnesses such cut throat competition between the leading giants AMD and Intel that mandates constant launch of new products. Before a new product has been thoroughly tested against industry benchmarks, there is an even newer product ready to take the mantle of the most powerful or the fastest in the industry. This makes it complicating for the average consumer to think of the perfect combination for his dream personal computer.

A person realizes his worst fears when he has already spent on building a PC, thinking that it shall last at least a couple of years only to find out later that a new technological advancement just wiped away his existing system into the history books. This phenomenon is not limited to the world of hardware. In fact, software is revamped year after year and in order to get the latest features and protection, one needs to spend the same amount annually to avail the latest edition. This never ending cycle affects those who wish to stay at the front of the changing scenario rather than those who just want their computer to last long enough to provide a good return on their investment.
